Not A Butterball Tom Turkey stuck his neck out Trying to be the best of the lot Not realizing that to be the best Meant only the butcher block The others kept it to themselves Did their best to stay oh so slim When that fateful day arrived They wanted it to be him Tom Turkey ate more than his share The other gobblers let him have all While pretending that they cared The farmer guy made an appearance The same time every day Made Tom Turkey feel special As he did the daily weigh Tom Turkey was truly the king He strutted and he sauntered And displayed his strong fine wings Then one day he grew up Instead of growing out Because he finally learned the truth Of what it was all about He stopped eating and Pretended to be so sick Ate when others were not looking And his neck was no longer thick The fateful day arrived But Tom Turkey was too slim The farmer guy took another A lot more foolish than him Smiling to himself He thought not bad at all At least this year he survived Being the baked butterball Doni
